Not fun at all!!!
But thankfully yesterday was a huge step towards getting back to our normal routine!
We were able to have a semi-successful Potty Training Day.

Now to just fold them...and finish the other loads I have....Maybe today or tomorrow?

Last night we had a fantastic dinner of homemade Sweet & Sour Pork with rice!
Yum!!

And today I have been busy cleaning which is always fun!

And guess what??
Tomorrow will be the Reversible Bag & Matching Flower Giveaway!

We are "ick"!

Yes it is true...We are sick!
Or as Jack keeps telling me "Momma I ick"
Sunday night Jack started throwing up.
It lasted through the night and part of Monday.
He hasn't really wanted to do anything but watch movies.
FYI: The pillow case was in the wash :@)
Last night was also rough on him.
Poor guys tummy was to upset to sleep much.
But he did sleep in this morning!
Today he seems much better and is actually eating!
BUT I managed to catch his bug.
 YUCK!
Which totally stinks since I had this Giveaway planned for my blog!
But I guess it will have to wait till later.
Oh, and as a Thank You for being so patient I will also be including a matching flower with the Reversible Bag!

Be sure to check back soon(okay, so maybe not to soon since I am verily typing this) for all the details on the Giveaway!

The Best Granola Ever!!!

I LOVE granola!
And with this recipe you will LOVE it too!
Here's what you'll need!

10 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup wheat germ
1/2 lb. shredded coconut
2 cups raw sunflower seeds
1 cup sesame seeds(optional)
3 cups almonds, pecan, walnuts, or combination(optional)
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1-1/2 cups water
1-1/2 vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup molasses
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 teaspoons vanilla
Raisins or other dried fruit(optional)

Step 1. In large bowl mix together oats, wheat germ, coconut, sesame seeds, and nuts.
FYI: I chose to skip the sesame seeds, nuts and dried fruit.

Step 2.  In sauce pan, heat together brown sugar, water, vegetable oil, honey, molasses, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla until sugar has melted.
Don't let boil!

Step 3. Mix liquid and dry ingredients together.
Then spread mixture evenly between some cookie sheets or baking dishes.
Step 4. Back for 25mins at 350. For crunchier granola back an extra 10-15mins!

Step 5. Store in air tight container!
This recipe does make allot, but don't worry!
As long as it's stored properly it will stay good for up to 6 months!

I hope you enjoy this with milk
or yogurt!

Kate

Our Adventure with Potty Training: Day 15

Today has been spent getting Jack back on track for potty training since this past weekend he was not feeling good and spent the days in a diaper.
He was not very happy about it, but since he needed to be changed every 45mins it just seemed easier to me.
But today things have gone so well!
He was VERY happy to put on his "Choo Choo roos"!
Plus, they've been dry ALL morning!!
Yay!
So here's our Potty Training Routine!
Each morning after breakfast Jack gets to pick out a pair of under-roos!
Then we set the timer for 20mins.
While the clock clicks down we do our usual stuff.
He LOVES doing puzzles!

Then once the timer goes off we head into the bathroom.
I try to get him to sit on the pot for as long as he can.
Sometimes it's 10 seconds and other times it's 3mins.
It really just depends on him.
If he does "go" on the pot he gets a treat!
Which is his favorite part!
I deiced to label the jars that way even  Daddy knows how many he gets since Jack will tell you that he needs more!
Once we are done in the bathroom we reset the clock and start all over again!
Hopefully everything will click for him soon!
But we have been making some progress!
Do you have any tips for potty training?
If so PLEASE let me know!!

Kate

Jack's Eye Appointment & FISH!

When Jack was 9months old he was diagnosed with 4th Nerve Palsy which basically means that the eye has trouble moving around.
We were given a list of things to watch for and was told to come back the following year.

So we went back at 18months and it was determined that it was not in fact 4th Nerve but instead 6th nerve!
Which is happier news because it means that the eye is functioning but it can not turn outward.
Since his eyes were still very small we decided to hold off on dilating them until his next visit.

Well today was that visit.
They started off by placing the drops in his eyes(not fun).
Then after waiting a few minuets the doctor finally came!
And according to him it looks like the nerve in the left eye is finally starting to work!
YAY!
He says that he can defiantly see the eye moving, which is a positive sign that the eye may out grow the palsy! Yay!!
We did find out that his right eye is much more far sighted then it should be.
So we will have to watch him through this year since Jack tends to close that eye when he has trouble seeing.
But over all his eyes are very healthy!

For Christmas Jack received a fish aquarium!!
So today after Jack's appointment we headed on over to PETCO!!!
Of course we had to look at all the animals in the store.
Mice=Yuck!
Jack thought that the Guinea Pigs were cute.
But of course he is his daddy's boy and...
 LOVED the Ferrets!
I guess they are kinda cute!
Then it was time to head to the FISH section!
We had fun looking at all the different kinds!
And after spending many minuets looking at them it was finally time to get ours!
Then we had to wander the store looking for the other supplies that we needed.
Jack's favorite stop was the birds!
Then it was time to head home.

Here's a look at our finished aquarium
Jack LOVES it!
He says that the fish are cute!
Thank You Grandpa & Grandma Radomski!!!!
We LOVE our fish!!!!

Kate

How To: Make a Drawstring Bag

I am so excited about this post!
A few weeks ago my pastor's wife asked if I could make a few drawstrings bags that could be used to hold a small coloring book and some crayons.
I thought it was a great idea!

Here is what i came up with!
Aren't they cute?
They are so easy to make that even YOU can make them!

Here's How:

Step 1. Cut fabric to desired size.
Since these are being used for a small child's activity book I decided to cut my fabric 8 inches by 21 inches wide.

Step 2. Fold edge of fabric 1/2 inch in.
Then iron it flat and
stitch edge.
Then snip edges with pinking shears.

Step 3.
With right sides together stitch sides together using a 1/2 seam stopping 2 inches away from top.

Step 4. Press the top side seams open.
Then stitch around the opening.
Be sure to pink these edges as well!

Step 4. Fold top down 1 inch
Then near the bottom stitch all the way around and turn right side out.

Step 5. Cut 2 pieces of ribbon or cording to desired length.
Then using a safety pin thread the cord through the casing.
Add some decorative beads and then pull it tight!
And there ya go! A quick and easy Drawstring Bag!

You can also make your own straps like this:

Step 1. Cut 2 stripes of fabric.
I decided to do 1 inch wide by 18 inches long but you can make them any size.

Step 2. Fold and iron edges in.
Then fold and iron again.

Step 3. Stitch along edges.

Step 4. Using a safety pin thread strap through bag casing.
Then fill your bag with goodies and enjoy!
I really hope that you enjoy this How To!
Please let me know what you think of it!

Till Next Time,
Kate
