Tea Pots & Snow!

Well, It has been a crazy few days for us.
Our car is in the auto shop once again!
But it should hopefully be fixed soon!!

In other news: My wonderful mom gave me these cuties!
So of course I had to put them on top of my cabinets.
I am currently thinking of staying with the Tea Pot theme for my kitchen!
Especially since these are so cute!
I can't wait to start adding more items!

Also in other news: It Snowed!!
Sure in rained on top of it...
So now it's more like...slush.
But at least it's winter outside!

I hope you have a great day!

Homemade Play Dough

Today Jack and I made Homemade Play dough!
We had so much fun that I think you should try it too!

Here's what you'll need:

1 cup Flour
1 cup Water
1/2 c Salt
2 tablespoons Cream of Tarter
1 tablespoon Oil

In a sauce pan mix together the dry ingredients.
Then add the liquids.
Heat over Medium heat until the dough begins to form.
It will be sticky!
Place the dough into a air bowl and let cool in fridge.
Once your dough is cooled knead on a floured surface!
Now is also a great time to add food coloring!
Then have fun!
Once your done having fun just put the dough in a air tight container and store in the fridge until your ready to use it again!!
I hope you have fun!

We're Home!

Hello Hello!!!
Well, after a few days visiting my family Jack and I are finally home!
Okay, so we came home Thursday but yesterday we had an "us" day and just watched movies!
Today has been the productive day since we've been unpacking, cleaning and doing some laundry!

This trip was ALOT of fun!
That Friday night was the Ladies' Tea at my moms church.
My mom was beyond thrilled because not only was I able to be with her but also because my brother's girlfriend Kayla was too!
The tea was lovely!
And the best part???
My wonderful mom gave the devotion!
She did an amazing job teaching us about Modesty!

On Saturday my Dad took us to breakfast at The Original Pancake House
My favorite!
And then we did some shopping at Good Will!

Sunday we went to church!
Poor Jack had a hard time understanding why we couldn't go to "His chuch" but by Sunday night he was doing really good!

And Monday thru Wednesday was spent spending time with each other!
Jack also seemed to enjoy this trip!
He LOVED being aloud to watch tv in his Uncle Drew's bed!
And he thought it was even cooler that he was aloud to eat cheerios!
He was able to spend an entire day with his Gram while I spent the morning running errands with Drew!
That afternoon I was also able to spend some time with my friend Samantha in Milwaukee.
Overall I think our trip was a HUGE success!
Especially since my Dad bought me Sushi twice while I was there!
Now that things are finally getting back to normal I am hoping to get back on my normal blogging schedule!
Oh, and guess what?
Next week i'll be introducing Clutches into my shop!
So be sure to stop by to get all the info on them!!

Till Next Time,
Kate

Our Adventure with Potty Training: Day 38

Hi Everyone!
Yesterday we went to library and came home with alot of great finds!
Which explains why I didn't blog yesterday since I managed to finish 2 books instead!
One of our finds was this great book called Potty
It's a great book about this kid who needs to go potty!
Jack is really enjoying it!
Today I decided that it would be a good idea to read the book with Jack while he was on the pot.
He seemed to really like this!
Especially since the last page shows a bunch of different kinds of undies.
(He like the fish)
And I like the fact that he sits there longer then a minuet!
Well, after our second time reading the book he actually went potty!
Since we've had such great success with this book, I am hoping to find many more!
Hope you have a great day!

Till Next Time,
Kate

Custard Rolls with Orange Glaze

These rolls are Amazing!
If you are hungry for something similar to Cinnamon Rolls then look no farther!
Jack and I L-O-V-E theses!
Here is what you will need for the Custard:
2 egg yolks
1/3 c sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
In a small sauce pan bring 1 1/4 cups milk to simmer.
While milk heats lightly beat the egg yolks.
Then stir in the sugar, cornstarch, milk, and salt.

Once the milk is heated, stir half of it into the egg mixture.
Then mixed together and add the mixture back into the sauce pan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a gentle boil.
Then cook and stir for 2 minutes more.
Remove from heat.
Stir in 1 tablespoon butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
(Mixture will be thick)
Transfer custard to a 2-quart baking dish.
Cover with plastic wrap and chill while you make the dough!
For the dough you will need:
4 1/2 to 5 cups flour
1 package active dry yeast
1 cup milk
1/2 water
1/3 cup butter
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 golden raisins(optional)
In large mixing bowl stir together 2 cups flour and yeast; set aside.
In small saucepan heat and stir together the milk, water, butter, honey, sugar, and salt
just until warm(120*F or 130F*) and butter has almost melted.
Add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients.
Then add the egg and vanilla.
Beat mixture on low to meduim speed for 30 seconds, scraping the sides of the bowl.
Then beat on high for 3mins.
Then add raisins(I chose not too) and as much of the remaining flour as you can.
Transfer dough to a large bowl, cover and let dough rise in a warm place until double in size(about 45mins).
Once dough is ready, punch down middle and transfer to a well-floured surface.
Roll the dough flat into a rectangle that's about 1inch thick.
Next it's time to pull the Custard out of the fridge!
Throw it in the microwave for 15-30 secounds
until it's easy to stir.
Once your custard is ready
spread it evenly over the dough.
Then starting for the long side, begin rolling!
Once your dough is rolled, start slicing!
I prefer to use a piece of thread.
But you are welcome to use a knife.
Place your rolls on a greased extra-large baking sheet.

Next you will want to cover, and let rise in warm place until they are double in size(30mins).
Or like me, you can refrigerate them over night and in the morning let rise before baking.

While your rolls are rising preheat your oven to 375*F.
Then bake about 20mins or until golden brown.
Here is what you will need for the Orange Glaze:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon butter.
While your rolls are baking combine in a saucepan the powdered sugar, orange juice(yes, I did make the juice first! I just used the concentrate juice for the picture), and butter.
Heat over medium until warm and smooth.
Then stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and use immediately!
I hope you enjoy these wonderful Custard Rolls!
We love them here!
Well, you better hurry since it ends later today!

Till Next Time,
Kate
